Kandake - Artist Bio.

In a musical genre predominately dominated by male vocalists, a strong fresh female voice rises in reggae music and her name is Kandake (formerly know as "Queen Candace").
This rastafari daughter conceived in Jamaica and London born first found her love for singing in Church and by 7 years old was already playing both the violin and piano. Kandake loved to sing at home practising endlessy over her mothers old vinyl reggae and soul records from Jamaica and the USA.
She continued honing her singing skills whilst at the Brent Music Corp (BBMC) in west London where she had her first public band performances. Kandake also spent several years studying dance and drama.
In the 90's Kandake moved to Jamaica following her passion for singing and Rastafari. She grew in both her faith and her music and put the finishing touches to her unique style whilst studying at the Music House based in Kingston 6.
In the studio Kandake worked with bassist and producer Chris "Grammy" Meredith, bass player with the Marley family and who worked on Ziggy's grammy winning "Conscious Reggae Party" and the "Mis-education" of Lauryn Hill Album. Kandake spent several years working with Chris and they produced singles like "Natural Woman", "United States of Africa", "Pass it on" and "Jah Jah Saved Me" amongst others...
For ten years kandake lived and performed in Jamaica. She has performed on stage shows alongside many artists including Sizzla, Anthony B, Capleton, Gregory Isaacs, Stephen Marley, Bunny Wailer to name a few...
Recently Kandake has begun working once again in London, teaming up with Vincent Prince at the Raspect Muzik studio.
Now Kandake has released her first album which encapsulates the essence of this truly talented "Natural woman".
This Rasta Roots Reggae Empress has a style totally unique.
